The Perfect Easter Basket For Older Boys

This post is sponsored by, however, all opinions are 100% my own. Over the years I have found it more and more challenging to come up with great holiday gifts for my older boys. They could care less if they woke up on Easter morning to plastic eggs throughout the house and little bunnies in a basket. Don't get me wrong, they want the candy, but they don't so much care about all of the fun and cute stuff. This year we decided to do something a little different. We live in a very small town and are blessed to have a KMart with a grocery section in it. I love how they carry products for each holiday, but they make my life simple by keeping it all in one big section of the store. Those stores that spread everything all across the store and make you walk back and forth sort of annoy me---ha! KMart's grocery section offers competitive, low prices on their grocery items. I headed over to my local K-Mart with an idea and a budget. I'm pleased to announce that I stayed under … [Read more...]

We Flipped—And It’s Finished!

Oh how excited I am to tell you all that we are finished with the house we were remodeling. We spent the last couple of months at this house tearing up flooring, laying new flooring, painting, putting in light fixtures, door knobs, doors and everything in between. It was a big project, but we were up for the challenge and we really think it turned out nicely! What do you think? (Back Family Room) (Family Room) (Kitchen) (Living Room) (Half Bath) (Upstairs) (Upstairs) (Upstairs) We just listed the house last night. Today our realtor called us over and over again to let us know he had calls coming in for showings. Last I knew we were up to 5 showings today! Now we just pray an offer comes in! Wish us luck! And Then There Was Light

Today we installed lighting at the investment property. You would think this was something small, but I always get so excited when we get to the lighting. Number one, this means that we are one step closer to having the house complete and the other reason is that I simply love to pick out lighting. I love seeing how things come together. The lighting above was placed at the top of the stairs leading up to a large open bedroom. It's just sort of above your head as you walk up the steps. It's not real noticeable until you actually get up the stairs, however I think it definitely gives the upstairs a nice look. I apologize for the quality of the above photo. This was taken with my cell phone and I just could not get it to focus on the light properly while it was turned on. I think you can get the idea though. I liked this light so much I placed it in two different rooms! Do you get excited about little touches like curtains and lighting? Or is it just me? More to Come on Raising … [Read more...]

We are Flipping Again!!!

That's right! We bought an investment property and we are busy making renovations. Most people cringe at the thought of doing renovations to a home, however we get excited and can't wait to rip things apart and put them back together again! My boys had been BEGGING us to get another investment property. The time was finally right and the perfect property was right in front of us. The property is a 1 1/2 story home with 1700 square feet. It was a bit of a mess when we got it, but with 5 busy boys, my husband and myself, we have been able to get busy and tear into things rather quickly. The 1 car garage (that's the biggest we could do given the size of the property) just went up and boy was it a much needed addition! We can't wait to show you the finished project! For now, just know that we are busy, busy, busy, but we are here and will be posting updates soon! … [Read more...]
